Just like most news, after it’s posted it’s already dated. Sigh. Anyway, over in the Files Section, I’ve got the TV schedules through April 1 updated. As always, mad props to Jay Badenhoop for these schedules.

Science: Back To Mars
That whole Polar Lander incident didn’t keep ’em down, fortunately: NASA is about to launch another mission to Mars. The Mars Odyssey is schedule to launch this weekend.
WWF Sues Fox, X-Files
Vince McMahon, of the World Wrestling Federation, sued Chris Carter, Ten Thirteen Productions, and Fox in a surprise legal action earlier this morning, claiming that their show “The X-Files” is confusingly similar to the wrestler “X-Pac”. Microsoft is planning a countersuit, claiming that since they’re a bigger company, they own all rights to the letter “X” and are claiming it for their “X-Box” home entertainment system. Sesame Street could not be reached for comment.
The Lathe Of Heaven
I don’t recall whether Ursula K. LeGuin came up in the recent discussion of “cool SF that should be made into a movie but hasn’t.” Anyway, “The Lathe Of Heaven” is coming — to A&E, no less. Read all about it.
Buffy The Cartoon Slayer
Variety is reporting that Fox Kids has landed the rights to an animated series based on “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”. Still no word on whether Fox may be acquiring the live-action show as well.
Whole Lotta Trek Updates
Gotta love The Wire. Production on the series finale of Voyager is underway, and the rumor mill says Patrick Stewart is working on a draft of the next Trek movie that includes the death of Captain Picard. (Hopefully, he won’t decide to have a half-dozen novels ghost-written where he brings himself back from the dead.)
Buffy The Homeless Slayer
The contract that held Buffy The Vampire Slayer enthralled to the WB has come and gone. Now, darn near everyone’s bidding, including (reportedly) Fox and UPN.
Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers
Being reported just about everywhere, and confirmed by JMS himself in the newsgroup: The Sci-Fi Channel is producing “Legend of the Rangers,” a 2-hour movie focusing on the Anla-Shok (Rangers to us humans), and it’s likely to be a series pilot as well. Woohoo!

Eye Candy: The Green Goblin
Yeah, the pics aren’t that great, but they’re better than nothing. Straight from the set of the Spider-Man movie, pics of the Green Goblin. In other news, the movie’s official Web site is slated to open Friday.
Trek V: Who’s The Captain Gonna Be?
Trek Today, source of all great rumors, is reporting the wholly unconfirmed rumor that Scott Bakula is “in negotiations” for the role of the ship’s captain in the next Trek series (y’know, the one that Paramount still won’t even publicly acknowledge is being planned). Tongue planted firmly in cheek, IGN explores the possibilities, from Bruce Campbell to Lucy Lawless. So, assuming there will be a fifth series, who would you like to see as the newest captain?
