No, Fringe isn’t crossing over with Heroes— at least, not yet. Samuel didn’t cause those tremors.
The survivor of a building collapse gives the team an extra head’s-up on otherwordly doings, while events at a creepy abandoned daycare center comment on child abuse. The episode begins well and features some fair character development….
Actual discussion of this show around here has been about as popular as dicussion of recent Heroes eps, but I’ll keep posting, with reviews next week and after the finale.
This week actually picks up a bit, with a grimly amusing opening and a funny bit about jury duty. Death appears only briefly, in a dead-on spoof of the small-town bar scene. The plot develops, but overall, it’s still not must-watch tv. Not even the inevitable appearance of the Chicken Lady can change that.

This week, we’re treated to Noah’s Frank Castle-like origins, Samuel’s continued Magneto-like schemes, and Pete’s heroic efforts. Will he and Sylar break free, or will they have to spend the rest of their lives in a reality less exciting than a late-season Heroes episode?
Caprica’s second episode brings us further into the show’s funhouse reflection of our world, and into the mind of Zoe-Avatar-ProtoCylon, misunderstood teen monster. It’s not perfect, but it has my vote for best series currently running on television.1
The Bishops’ Nazi connections return to haunt them after several people die mysteriously at a wedding.
I’l have a review of the mini-series’ first half next week. In the meantime, anyone who wants to discuss the Kids in the Hall’s comical fantasy may do so here.
This week featured some good ideas– Death missing an appointment, elementary school students taking a field trip to an autopsy– but I found it the weakest episode thus far.

I was hoping for improvement in Heroes, some recall of the season’s strong start, but you can’t always get what you want.
Making a satisfying prequel is tricky business, filled both with obvious pitfalls and phantom menaces, and mass-media SF has failed at this enterprise more than it has succeeded. Battlestar Galactica frequently turned potential disasters into triumphs. How does its prequel fare?
