Saturday Review: Hard Candy
This stripped-down thriller with a cyber-twist has been doing far better as a rental than it did last year in the theatres. Saturday Review: Gamera
Our subject: the giant turtle Gamera, certainly one of the most controversial subjects of our time.
–TV host, Gamera.
We meant to have a more Halloweeny review for today, but Fiz got busy at work, and I had this prepared for some time in November, so….
Toho’s Godzilla and its various other giant monsters turned a fair profit back in the day, and other studios took notice. The U.K. gave us Gorgo, and Denmark faced Ridiculous Reptilicus. As a result of Moore and others refusing to create any new product, NBC has seized the webisodes and filed a grievance with the writers guild.

Cloaking Device
True invisibility may not be yet in sight, but a team of British and American researchers have developed a kind of proto-cloaking device.
Saturday Review: Ghost World
Ghost World may seem like an odd choice for a Bureau review, but it’s adapted from a graphic novel, it features hipster-nerds as lead characters, and at least one interpretation of the ending nudges it in the direction of genre.
It’s also a great film.
