Thanks go to regular reader and commenter Lex Pendragon, who just set up a Bureau 42 chatroom at irc://irc.freenode.net/#Bureau42. You’ll find a permanent link down on the right hand side of the site, by the links to the staff list, event calendar, twitter feed, and so forth.

Bureau 42 Event Calendar now live
There’s a new link on the right hand side of your page: the Bureau 42 event calendar. Here you can find a list of events relevant or of interest to Bureau 42 readers. This includes genre movie releases, major DVD/Blu-Ray releases, new episodes of genre TV shows (with reminders 15 hours before broadcast, which can be added to your own digital calendars) and reminders about upcoming columns and reviews that we have scheduled. All times are in Pacific time, the same time zone as our server. We take requests for event addition. (Current TV shows included: Lost, Smallville and Supernatural.)
Blaine’s Video Collection to your right
The recent column asking for votes on upcoming reviews was popular, so now there’s a permanent column for just that very thing. My entire DVD/Blu-Ray/HD DVD collection is now listed under “Links” to your right, just below the comments. There you’ll find my collection, links to vote for upcoming reviews, and (in time) links to existing reviews. Enjoy!
Miscellaneous points of interest
We’ve had a few interesting links submitted lately, but none really seemed to justify a complete article. You’ll find links to each below.
David Eddings dies

Welcome to the New Bureau!
The site hasn’t been hacked or taken over by SyFy or anything; it just got a long-overdue makeover and more-or-less complete upgrade. We’d actually hoped to celebrate April Fool’s with a different, and much more ugly, version of the site, but things just didn’t work out quite that way.
Season’s Greetings from the Bureau

To the Bureaumobile!
This image, created by a young artist who has lurked but never posted at the site, I think captures our…. Er, something….
I’ve always wanted to be a superhero.
