66th World Science Fiction Convention
Denvention 3, starts tomorrow in Denver Colorado. Sure the cool kids went to San Diego to shill their latest movie and tv projects, but this remains the big SF Con, with thought-provoking panels, great parties, the Hugo Awards, and an unbelievable masquerade.
Guest of Honor this year is Lois McMaster Bujold, and many of SF’s luminaries will be present, along with some lesser-known fans and folk.
Michael Turner and Jack Speer, R.I.P.
Comic artist Michael Turner died yesterday after a long struggle with cancer. He was 37.
Turner was best known for his work on Witchblade, Black Panther, Superman/Batman, and his own Fathom and Soulfire.
Also, Jack Speer, author of the Fancyclopedia has passed away.
SF Artist Dead
John Berkey, especially well-known for his SF-related work (including early work for Star Wars), died on April 29.
Penguicon 6.0
Friends, ninjas, lively discussion, pirates, Vernor Vinge, and guys playing music on giant Tesla Coils. The Time Traveler recorded a panel I did with John Scalzi, and it may appear as a future podcast.

Forthcoming Conventions
I’m on panels at a couple of forthcoming conventions, so I thought I’d promote, and provide anyone who might be attending other Cons and such to let their fellow Bureau-crats know when and where.
2008 Hugo Nominees
Galactica, Doctor Who, a number of writers you’ve read (including Charles Stross), but no novels we’ve reviewed as yet, are up for the 2008 Hugos, to be awarded at WorldCon in Denver this summer.
Cloverfield isn’t mentioned– but Heroes‘ entire first season could win best dramatic presentation, long form.
Daylight Savings Time effective tonight
If you live in an area that follows Daylight Savings Time, remember to set your clocks an hour ahead tonight or tomorrow morning. If you’re reading this for the first time on Sunday morning, well, then, you may already be late for something. (This isn’t site news, really, but it didn’t fit any other category any better…)
Upcoming Bureau 42 content, including “Secret Invasion” plans
There are a number of reviews I’m planning to get done in the next few weeks and months. For details on what’s being reviewed and when you can expect said reviews, read below.
