RPGamer.com isn’t the only site to report these, but it’s the first site I noticed. In one announcement, we’ve heard that Squaresoft and Enix will be merging from now until April 1, 2003. In a second announcement, we’ve learned that the 16-bit revamps of Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2 will be available in North America next spring. This will be FF2’s first English-language release. (The SNES game marketed as Final Fantasy 2 was actually number 4, and was released in Final Fantasy Chronicles. Review forthcoming.)

Game Review – “Crash Bandicoot: Warped”
Remember those ads with the guy in the odd-looking outfit trying to get a bazooka through airport security? This is the game they were advertising.

Kalsforth Gamers Foundation
mark writes, I started a web project of mine a few months ago. I met someone while in the process of recruiting volunteers. I have played in games with him for some time but never knew about him. Please read about Kal here, and I hope you spread the word about him and our web project. Thanks, Mark

“Futurama” The Video Game
Here’s the official site. Not much more detail beyond what’s included there. Hopefully we can get a copy to review.
Farscape RPG
Published by Alderac Entertainment Group, the game is a 320-page full color hardbound book. Using the very popular D20 system, the game is based on the hit Sci-Fi Channel series and appears to feature most all of the races, ships, and weapons shown therein.
Side Note: Any interest in more RPG news/reviews? I’ve got a small mountain of material to go from.
Game Review: “Halo: Combat Evolved”
It’s a little old now, but at least you don’t have to pay to read our review like you do at GameSpot, et al.

First off, the game will be ported to the Xbox as part of Microsoft’s Xbox Live community. Release is set for November 15th.
Additionally, Variety (by way of SciFi.com) is reporting that Columbia Pictures will be making a big screen movie version of the best-selling shooter.
Final Fantasy 1 and 2 coming to PlayStation in Japan
According to this
RPGamer article, the first two installments in
the Final Fantasy series (one of which has never been
released in English) are on their way to the
PlayStation in Japan. There’s no word about number
three (which is the best of the 8 bit games, IMO) for
any system, or whether they’ll be releasing 1 and 2
for the English-speaking world in any form.
Video Game Review – “Final Fantasy X”

Doom III Cleans Up at E3
With a promising mix of games at this year’s E3 convention, it makes id’s domination that much sweeter for John Carmack and company. Their latest project, Doom III: The Legacy, took home most of the awards from the gaming convention. Having finally downloaded a copy of the demo movie, I can see why!
[Update (1:26pm EDT): How callous of me not to link to the demo film. Here it is in Windows Media and QuickTime. Be forewarned, it’s a big beast!]
