Alex got this to me on August 14, but expressed concerns about background noise. I was unable to find the time to clean that up, and would rather get this out late than not at all. You can listen here.

Weekend Review: Stephen King’s It
A new adaptation of Stephen King’s notorious It will hit theatres roughly a year from now, early September 2017. The novel features a brilliant horror premise with flawed development, but no one can deny It‘s1 success and influence.
This weekend’s review flashes back to 1990, when the first adaptation hit the small screen.

Weekend Review: The Picture of Dorian Gray
Oscar Wilde’s novel has been adapted to the screen more than twenty times, but the most famous is the 1945 version, which received two Oscar nominations and one win (Best Cinematography), a Golden Globe (Best Actress) and a Hugo (Best Dramatic Presentation).
It tells the tale of man whose wish, mystically granted, goes disturbingly awry.

Ghostbusters debuts at #2
It looks like those negative pre-release comments about the film may have taken a toll. The all-female reboot took second place at the box office behind The Secret Life of Pets (which is in its second week).
Did anyone here see it this weekend? Any wild and unfounded theories you want to throw out? Are the Hollywood bean counters right and female-led movies just don’t gross as much money? Or were audiences just not willing to put any money down to see a reboot of a beloved classic? Or a little of both?
