This week has a few notable offerings. Remember, the
titles listed below are officially released this
Tuesday. This seems to be the week for 1980s
nostalgia.

“The 4400” Discussion
From what I’ve seen online, this looks like the last
week for this miniseries. Does it end well? Am I
wrong about this?
“The Dead Zone” Discussion
How are things moving this week?
Movie Review – “Hercules In New York”
This movie is just all kinds of bad.

Singer off X3
The details are in this
Cinescape article. With Bryan Singer making the
next Superman film, Fox has decided to find
someone else to make the next X-Men film. I
hope they find someone who can turn out something as
good as X2.
Bubba Ho-Tep
What we have here at Shady Rest is an Egyptian soul-sucker of some sort.”
–Jack
Here’s another film from last year which has found a larger audience on video. Just as Buffy (especially in the earlier seasons) used horror-movie conventions to comment on adolescence, serving them up in a blend of horror, humour, and drama, Bubba Ho-Tep does the same for the geriatric set. A monster’s stalking old people, but our heroes refuse to go gentle into that good night.
It may be purchased from Amazon.com (includes a special price if you purchase it with Kill Bill, Vol. I) or Amazon.ca.
Daleks are back!
Comic Review – “Daredevil Vol. 8: Echo – Vision Quest”
I’ve almost caught up on the Daredevil reviews, just in time to pick up a massive order this week.

Weekly Comics Discussion
This
week is a big one. I’ll be picking up the 12
cent Batman, League of Extraordinary
Gentlemen Vol. 2 as a TPB, Essential
Avengers Vol. 4, Exiles #50, Marvel
Age Emma Frost Vol. 1: Higher Learning as a
digest, Marvel Age Spider-Man Vol. 3,
Ultimate Nightmare #1, Ultimate
Spider-Man #63, Ultimate X-Men #50, and
X-Men: The End Book One #1. I’ll try to
review the cheap Batman issue first, since it’s
likely to sell out first. Then, I’ll hit the first
issues, and finally follow up with the trades. (The
Marvel Age Spider-Man Vol. 3 review will
wait until my overdue copy of Vol. 1 arrives so I can
review them in order.)
