Weekly Digital Disc Picks – June 3, 2008
This is one heck of a week for Blu-Ray. Loads of movies that were previously exclusive to HD DVD hit shelves this Tuesday. Instead of the usual “under 10” title count for releases, Amazon.com lists 56 different titles coming this week, and one of them is Amazon.com’s top seller, outpacing all of the DVD releases. Lost Discussion – Season Four Finale
As Cheech Marin said when the Titanic arrived, “better late than never.”
Alexander Courage, Composer, Dead at Age 88

The 2008 made-for-television remake begins with Crichton’s premise, but this Andromeda develops in ways that may strain viewers’ credibility and patience.
Secret Invasion Review – “New Avengers #41”
The Ms. Marvel review will come later this week.

Supernova In Flagrante Delicto
rickyjames writes, Supernovas have long held a special place in science fiction, so it’s worth noting that one has just been caught for the first time in the act of detonation by astrophysicist Alicia Soderberg. This woman is lucky beyond belief, her discovery is about like hitting a royal flush in the final hand to win the World Series of Poker… I’m not to sure about rickyjames’ analogy. My gut tells me the Royal Flush is quite a bit more likely; I’ll have to double check the math on that to be sure.
Weekend Review – “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”
The review is spoiler free, but I’ll give a quick encapsulation anyway: if I were to rank all four Indy flicks from best to worst, this would be third on the list.
