My favourite Hitchcock kicks off the feature length
double header this Halloween.

Halloween Review – “The Haunted House (1921)”
This year’s Halloween reviews end up with a
three-parter in the style of the old drive-ins.
First, we’ve got a Buster Keaton short with The
Haunted House, followed by a Hitchcock double
header. These aren’t really genre, but they’re so
well suited to Halloween that we’re running the
reviews anyway.

B5 scripts now available
For some reason, I didn’t get the automatic
notification I signed up for, so I thought I’d notify
everyone in case somebody else missed it: the first
volume of J. Michael Straczynski’s Babylon 5
scripts is now for sale.
Order quickly, and it’s only $29.99US plus shipping
instead of the $39.99US it will be shortly.
Werewolf versus Vampire Women
aka Werewolf versus Vampire Woman aka Shadow of the Werewolf aka The Werewolf’s Shadow
(Original title: La Noche de Walpurgis)
Dr Harwig! Look at this scar! It’s pentagonal!
Kids these days…. Why, in my day, if you were out of elementary school, you didn’t go begging for candy door-to-door. Dangnabit, if you’re old enough to shave any culturally acceptable part of your body, you shouldn’t be trick-or-treating. If you’re old enough to drive, you shouldn’t be trick-or-treating. If you’re sexually active, you definitely shouldn’t be trick-or-treating. Hrumph. Leave it for the kids. Older folk should be going to parties, or handing out candy, or scaring little kids, or watching horror movies. Yeah… And for our second day of Halloween Film Reviews, we’re looking at some really bad late-night horrors, well worth your own Mystery Science Theater 3000 night. Oooh! Scary!
Robot Monster
aka Monsters from Mars, Monsters from the Moon
Phil Tucker has achieved a reputation second only to the great Ed Wood as a creator of really bad drive-in era films.
The title character of Robot Monster, Tucker’s most infamous flick, has achieved pop-icon status.
Weekly DVD Picks – Tuesday, November 1, 2005
Another week, another round of DVDs. As usual, the
number of major releases drops relative to previous
and coming weeks when a new Star Wars movie
hits the shelves. One of the reasons they sell so
well is because nobody wants to compete with them.

Halloween Review – “Cat People (1982)”
The first of three days of Halloween coverage is here.
Today we review a single film, the remake of Cat
People. Tomorrow it’s a double header of
Robot Monster and Werewolf vs. The
Vampire Women, and on Monday we’ll have a review
of a triple header of classics with a Halloween feel,
though not necessarily genre films, with a review of
Buster Keaton’s short Haunted House, followed
by reviews of Hitchcock’s Rear Window and
Psycho.

Ghost Whisperer Discussion – “Homecoming”
A tormented teenager is bothering Melinda this week.
I can only assume that Halloween will play some part
in a show about ghosts.
Smallville Review – “Thirst”
Smallville meets vampires just in time for Halloween.

Dungeon Siege, Volume 1 and 2?
Word is out from Uwe Boll himself that the Dungeon Siege movie, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, will be released in two parts, the first on November 3, the second on December 1. Each part will be about 105 minutes in length. More info from Sci-Fi Wire.
OK, I’ll just say it: 105 minutes?! Why not trim some stuff and get it into one 3 hour flick. You know, Lord of the Rings sized. Sounds like the studio wants to double-dip at the box office. I won’t be surpised in the least when this blows up in their face. Especially when the DVD will have both parts bundled together and theater ticket prices are truly frightening.
