Marvel’s big summer event this year is Civil
War. For once, I plan to pick up the whole
bloody cross-over event, and review the pieces right
here, starting later this week. A detailed list of
exactly which issues those are can be found below.
It’s basically Marvel’s
checklist, with the removal of Civil War:
Opening Shot (a sketchbook summarizing other
entries) and Marvel Spotlight:
Millar/McNiven, which is a behind-the-scenes item
instead of a part of the story proper.

Comic Review – “Spider-Man: The Other”
The latest multi-title Spider-Man crossover is now out
in a single hardcover, and will later be available in
two trade paperbacks. Is it worth it?

Weekly DVD Picks – April 25, 2006
There are a fairly large number of mediocre titles
coming out this week. Also, based on last week’s
response, I’m only going to mention HD-DVD and Blu-Ray
titles when they are releases of new movies, so the
two releases of older movies this week won’t get
mentioned.

Doctor Who Delayed World-Wide
shayward
writes, Outpost Gallifrey\’s This
Week in Doctor Who for April 12, 2006 shows major
airing delays world-wide compared with the UK airing
schedule. SciFi in
America is a year behind and the CBC in Canada will
likely end up 6 months behind. Given that many “Whovians”
are tech-savvy it makes one wonder if these delays
will unintentionally foster piracy, thus lower the
ratings when the episodes finally do air. Note
that the link provided is to the front page, which is
now on the April 19 column. I couldn’t find a link to
the archives to check the April 12 column.
Weekly Comics Discussion – April 19, 2006
It’s a hectic week now, and things are likely going to
stay that way while some of these summer events play
out. Complete listings are here
as usual.

Movie Review Schedule now available
The schedule for the Saturday movie reviews is now
available here.
Regular movie reviews continue until the last Saturday
in July. In August, there’s a “family entertainment”
theme going, heavy on animation, and then a break
until the Halloween reviews start in October. It’s
the list I use as a checklist when I’m deciding what
to watch, so those with checkmarks (rather than boxes)
have either full reviews or review notes written. I’ll
try to keep this schedule, but July and August are our
busiest months at work, so it’ll require me to work
ahead for a while.
