writes, Serenity is scheduled to have its Los
Angeles Premiere on September 22, with the cast
and a galaxy of all-star guests. A half-dozen
two-guest tickets are now available over on the Universal
Serenity Movie Board “fan store”, which recently
got stocked with posters, T-shirts and such. The
catch is, members must have previously earned 10,000
“points” from fan activities to “purchase” these
premiere tickets, and only a few dozen of the
Browncoats out of the 50,000+ registered have that
many points accumulated. I’m one of them (from
posting a Serenity banner ad on a relatively high
traffic website for months), and I’ve “ordered” a
premiere ticket. Unfortunately, I’m stuck in Alabama
that night. Any Bureau 42 fans willing to go in my
place in exchange for posting a review here? Let me
know, and the ticket is yours for free if I haven’t
already given it to somebody else in LA already.
Serenity is definitely well worth seeing even despite
the negative energy I’ve previously vented here at B42
about the Memphis preview showing…

Lurch Kimded writes, I was blessed (as were 500 other people) to see last night the world premier of Serenity at the Edinburgh Film Festival. The Cast and Joss Whedon attended and did a short Q&A afterwards which was hugely enjoyable… anyway, I though it’d be amiss if I did not try and review this amazing film. I have tried to keep spoilers out of the review so anyone can read it. I read the review before I posted it, and can testify to the mild nature of spoilers. (When I say mild, I mean that the only things revealed here are also revealed in the trailers.)

Anonymous Coward writes, It’s already been on slashdot last week, but I
thought I’d mention the new Serenity international
trailer was posted online. Points to ponder, one
of the taglines is “6 rebels on the run”. Six? what
happened to the other 3? and I have yet to see Book in
any of the trailers – anybody hear any news on him? IMDB still
lists Ron Glass as being in the movie… Note
that answering those questions means moving into
spoiler territory. Those of us who wish to remain
unspoiled should choose not to read any comments which
appear in this article.

The prequel to the Serenity movie has begun.
Just try to keep me from issues 2 and 3.

Heroes and mine are making it back to the small screen
before they make it onto the big screen! As reported
by The Futon Critic: The Sci Fi Channel has
landed the repeat rights to all 15 hours of the
short-lived FOX series (and basis of the upcoming
“Serenity” feature film). The network’s July schedule
lists the series as joining its Friday lineup on July
22 at 7:00/6:00c where it will precede original
episodes of “Stargate SG-1,” “Stargate Atlantis” and
“Battlestar Galactica.”

Serenity comic from Dark Horse are available for
pre-order. The story bridges the series and movie.
There are three covers of each issue (visible here),
each featuring a different character. At $3 a piece,
the total series looks to want about $27 of my
paycheck.

Full details can be found straight from Joss Whedon’s
keyboard: the
Serenity trailer hits the web on Tuesday. He
also says that the same trailer will hit theaters on
Friday, though he hasn’t confirmed which ones. These
things are usually paired to another release by the
same studio, but Universal Pictures (who picked up the
movie rights from Fox and actually made the thing;
kudos to them!) doesn’t have any releases that
weekend, so there may not be guarantees on any
particular print. Still, there would be no
prohibitions, either, and Hitch Hiker’s Guide To
The Galaxy is a mighty logical choice. If I were
still a projectionist, I’d pair those up.
