First chance to see something from Serenity

TwistyHat writes, It’s almost a tradition. At Comiccon a few years back, Joss Whedon showed a stunned audience the first clip from “Serenity” – the pilot for his new show Firefly. This weekend he is back to show the first clip from “Serenity” – the motion picture based on the Firefly series. Also at Comic-Con will be the cast from the series/movie (all 9 actors) – editor Lisa Lassek, special effects guru Loni Peristere and producer Chris Buchanan.
It will take place on Sunday July 25th, 1-2pm, Room 20, afterwards there will be a signing session in room 28DE.
This was reported on what used to be the official Fox board, by the user “AffableChap” which has previously been confirmed to be Chris Buchanan.

Official Serenity Movie Website Is Official

rickyjames
writes, Check it out! Universal Studios has
opened up the
official Serenity movie website
. In other news,
Browncoat fan Bob has posted his
adventure as a Serenity extra
, complete with non-plot-spoiling
pictures from the set
. Exterior photography is
complete; now the action is all aboard the Serenity
set. Keep flyin’.
Yes, this is nearly a
duplicate of the previous article. However, we have
now confirmed (with the help of Xiadix) that it is
the official site. (The doubt was because it used to
have the HTML title bar “Official Serenity Movie Fan
Site,” but that’s since been changed to a simple
“Serenity” instead.) The above links give
link-through credit to rickyjames, who has an eye on
one of the T-shirts they give as a part of their
incentive programs to spread the word.

Official Serenity Movie site up?

If you check out comments posted by Emmett here
and here,
you’ll see links to this page,
which is labelled the “Official Serenity Fan Site”.
Copyright credit is given to Universal Studios, but
it’s bloody early in production, and it is labelled
as a fan site, with one instance linking back to
unofficial fan pages. Is this the official site, or
a fan creation?

Serenity Lifts Off

Anonymous Coward writes, Today (Wed June 9) is a
very special day indeed. According to inside
sources, this is the day the entire main cast of
Firefly reunites and begins filming scenes together
for the upcoming Serenity movie. Browncoat fans have
united to present them with a
surprise 4ft x 8ft vinyl welcome-back banner
.
One fan has actually been cast as an extra in the
movie and is posting
his experiences in ongoing diary entries
.
Release has been officially scheduled for April 22,
2005. That’s, um, only 316 days…
I may just
have to bookmark that BLOG.

Firefly joining the Navy!

TwistyHat
writes, The department for Morale, Welfare and
Recreation(MWR) in the American Navy have made a deal
with Fireflyfans, who’ve donated 250 DVD sets of the
series. So through the Navy’s “Afloat” library
program, US sailors around the world will be able to
enjoy Firefly during their downtime (while Joss
Whedon is working on the motion picture).
How’s
that for good PR? Maybe Universal and Fox will take
note of how much money Firefly fans are willing to
put into the show.
