One of my video game franchises, Worms has finally come to the Playsation Network. Some of it’s previous console outings, particularly to hand-held systems have been hit-or-miss. So, does this installment in the franchise blow itself up, or does it get a triple-kill?

Aaron Alliston in the hospital for surgery.
In addition to game designer Dave Arneson being in the hospital due to his cancer worsening, the official Star Wars blog is reporting Aaron Alliston is in the hospital as well, undergoing a quadrupal bypass surgery. If you want to help, there are two ways you can do it:
- Alliston’s family has started a blood donation sponsorship – if you are in the Dallas area you can go to Carter BloodCare center, or the National Blood Exchange, and say you’d like to donate blood for Aaron Alliston, a Carter BloodCare patient, and give his sponsor number – SPON 047786.
- You can send cards (but not perishable items or flowers) to

I’d like to wish Aaron a speedy recovery, and in general I hope he gets well soon.
Dave Arneson In Hospital
This story came of the RPG.net forums, and is on the unofficial Original D&D Forums. Dave Arneson – co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons with E. Gary Gygax, is currently in the hospital due to his cancer worsening, and his outlook is poor. I currently don’t have any additional information from that. Arneson’s family has requested that they not be contacted over this – no cards or anything. So, all we can do right now is keep him in our thoughts/prayers/send vibes/etc.
“Syndicate” gettting resurrected?
I hope to ($Supreme Being) that this isn’t an April Fools joke – Shacknews.com is reporting that EA is resurrecting Peter Molyneux, cyberpunk strategy game series Syndicate. According to the article, the game has been designed to Starbreeze studios, who developed the Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and The Darkness games.
Sneak Preview: Super Mario Brothers 2
Remember sixteen years ago, they made a live-action movie out of the Super Mario Brothers franchise, and it wasn’t very good?
Hollywood is at it again, boys and girls.
This time, though, it looks somewhat more promising. We have a special sneak-preview, showing off some of the (frankly, really good) CGI, and showing a bit of the storyline.
Rick Eddleman pleads guilty to embezzling over $1.5 Million from Decipher
I don’t know how many of you, dear readers, play table-top role-playing games, or collectible card games. However, you’ve probably heard of Decipher, who put out the first Star Wars CCG, and the last Star Trek and Lord of the Rings role-playing games – both of the latter had problems getting books out for both of them, Lord of the Rings due to licensing issues restricting them to the films and not to Tolkein’s later material, and Star Trek due to lack of funds.
Well, we now know why the lack of funds happened – The Virginan-Pilot is reporting that former Decipher VP of Finance Rick Eddleman has plead guilty to embezzling over $1.5 million from the company. The embezzlement was not caught until 2000. Thus far they’ve only recovered $50,000 from Eddleman’s 401K – about 1/30th of the amount stolen.
Video Game Review – Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerebus (PS2)
We’ve got a review for you of the first installment of the “Compilation of Final Fantasy VII” series that Square Enix was putting out. Yes, it’s been out for 3 years, but it still may be worth a shot.

Atlus Teases New Shin Megami Tensei Game
I subscribe to Atlus’s E-Mail bulletins, to get teasers for their new games. I recently received an E-Mail with a subject line of ??? and a body of this picture and (basically) nothing else. My analysis and theories below the cut.

Video Game Review – R-Types (PS1 – as released on PSN)
Another video game review for you all – this time a collection of a couple classing side scrolling shoot-em up games, R-Type 1 & 2, as re-released on Playstation Network (as an emulated version of a PS1 game – which is almost $20 cheaper than buying it off E-Bay).
Video Game Review – Quantum of Solace (PS3)
Well, we’ve reviewed the movie, and as we haven’t gotten a game review in for a while (and because I managed to rent the game before I got snowed in), it’s time to give the game it’s due. Does it achieve the lofty heights of Goldeneye 64? Or, does it languish in mediocrity?
