Peter Jackson’s Next Project

For those of you unable to sleep, wondering what Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) will do next: Worry no more. According to this piece from SciFi.com he’ll be helming a remake of the 1933 classic King Kong. Jackson will also have a hand in writing the script which will include more action taking place on Skull Island.

The film has been remade once before, in 1976, and starred Jeff Bridges, Charles Grodin, and Jessica Lange.

Superman: latest rumours

Timeshredder writes, I may have just nodded off and missed this story here, but if I haven’t….

I heard a radio report “confirming” that Ralph Fiennes will play Jor-El and Anthony Hopkins will play Lex Luthor in the Superman film (both have been Net rumours for awhile). They still don’t have an actor for Superman.

Given the number of delays this project has experienced in the past, and the number of times x has been “confirmed” to play y, they could easily cast Tom Welling without marring Smallville‘s timeline. Earlier this week, Brett Ratner was removed as director, and no casting was confirmed by Warner Bros. It looks like they’ve decided to make a fresh start with a new script and new crew.

Cabin Fever

calgodot writes, This new horror film from Lion’s Gate, directed by Eli Roth, is going to be a huge hit. It played at South by Southwest and blew people away. The IMDB entry has an average score of 6.4 out of 10 for it, with 55 votes so far. Of course, Titanic has a score of 6.9, so we know how little predictive power that score has for the financial success of a movie. Cabin Fever has no official site linked from the IMDB; can anyone give us a run-down? Should this be a movie we look at for our reviews?

Saturn Award Nominations Out

The Saturn Awards, dedicated to genre entertainment, have announced their nominations. The feature film nominations are here. The television nominations are here, and they are strangely lacking anything from Firefly. (Perhaps they are for the 2001/2002 season.) The DVD nominations are here. The special awards recipients are here. The face of the future nominations are here.

New X-Men 2 Trailer Online

Apple.com seems to have the exclusive scoop here. The trailer makes a point of listing out all the mutants in the film (except Colossus, who’s shown, but not named). Looks like a lot of fun.

Looks like Beast got the axe again. Oh well, the addition of Nightcrawler softens the blow.
