In the past few days, we have lost film critic Roger Ebert, comic book penciller Carmine Infantino (probably my favorite penciller from the Silver Age) and comic book writer George Gladir.
Weekend Review: Hitchcock
Last year saw two films about Alfred Hitchcock. While many who knew Hitch reviled BBC’s The Girl, the more successful Hitchcock seems almost too clean and admiring. Never mind. This film has a dream cast, and it provides a look into the life of one of history’s great directors, and the making of the most influential thriller of the twentieth century.

Weekend Review: The Wicker Man (1973)
Spring has finally arrived in the northern hemisphere, even if the weather in my specific locale still looks and feels like winter. Never mind. Spring it is and, with the season’s arrival, we’re finally reviewing that most seasonal of horror classics, the original Wicker Man.1

Movie Review: Oz the Great and Powerful
Disney has placed high hopes that Oz will become the family movie of the season. Yet another prequel to The Wizard of Oz that looks more towards the MGM musical (though Disney is not allowed to say so) than Baum’s original novel, it looks spectacular. Does it hold, however, anything beyond the CGI?
