Cartoon characters in the Star Wars universe? Meesa don’t believe it!

Disney has announced that Phineas and Ferb and Doofenshmirtz—who will be teaming up with the Avengers this August—will enter the Star Wars Universe next summer.

Update! The Simpsons will also do a Futurama crossover in 2014. They’ve met previously, in the funny pages, of course.

Researchers confirm that Antarctica’s Lake Vostok, frozen under layers of ice for longer than humanity has been around, contains a unique ecosystem with numerous living things.

By now, most of us must be aware of the controversy surrounding PRISM, an online surveillance program run by U.S. intelligence, with the alleged cooperation of many web giants. Information and commentary may be found here, here, and—like PRISM itself– pretty much everywhere. Whistleblower Edward Snowden has disappeared into Hong Kong.

Virgin Galactic on the home stretch to commercial spaceflight:

What we really want to do is ask what you’ll be doing this weekend for the Con-nerd-gence, the nerdy convergence of May the Fourth (Be With You) and Free Comic Book Day. This weekend also sees the release of Iron Man 3 (look for a review tomorrow), Canada’s largest Anime/Manga Convention, and a good deal more.
