I’m baaaack. If you thought the other stuff being reviewed during October were scary, just you wait…

Enterprise Season Four Begins Tonight
The SciFi franchise everyone loves to hate is back. Season Three ended with one of the biggest WTF moments in TV history, so I imagine a lot of people will still tune in, if only out of morbid curiousity.
Season Four is only signed for a half-season, UPN will pay for more episodes if, and only if, the ratings improve. The biggest change for the better: Manny Coto is now the lead Executive Producer, leaving the wonder twins of Braga and Berman to dream up other, bigger ways to screw up Trek.
Trekkies 2
Trekkies 2, the sequel to the hilarious 90s documentary Trekkies won’t likely be playing a theatre near you, but it can be purchased. The second film tours the Trek Cons of the world, and we see more people and more places. Unfortunately, we experience less of what made the original both compelling and hilarious. Members of the original crew also make themselves conspicuous with their absence.
Star Trek Round-Up
Two articles from Sci-Fi Wire discussing the future of Star Trek. Both involve, your friend and mine, Rick Berman. First off, we have some Enterprise Season Four spoilers and second, more info on the not-linked-to-any-existing-series-so-why-should-we-care movie.
Brent Spiner to Guest on Enterprise
My guess is they’re hoping to inject some old-school magic back into the series. Guest appearences usually turn out some great ratings (and the eps aren’t too bad either).
Spiner will be playing an ancestor of Data’s creator, Dr. Noonien Soong. Spiner did triple-duty as Data, Lore, and Dr. Soong in the TNG ep “Brothers.”
Star Trek XI Details Leaked
You probably saw it on Slashdot, but here you go.
Romulan Wars? In a movie? Why not in the TV series? Or a Klingon war? Or anything that the fans are looking forward to?!?
And what’s with the “new crew/storyline” for a movie? Wouldn’t we gladly line up for a DS9 (or even a hodge-podge TNG/DS9/Voy) film?
Why am I talking in hyberbole?
James Doohan suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease
Recently, Mr. Doohan, most famous for immortalizing Montgomery “Scotty” Scott on the original Star Trek television show, announced that his next convention appearence will be his last. It has just recently been revealed that he’s been diagnosed with the brain disorder (he is also battling Parkinson’s and diabetes).
Our thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes to the D-Day veteran and his family.
JMS Pitches Next Star Trek Series
For good or ill, here’s the details from Sci-Fi Wire.
It also mentions that he passed on the job currently held by Manny Coto. I like his comment about “the powers-that-be”
No word on whether Paramount has any interest in his pitch or if he actually pitched anything at all (there’s still that old rumor-/hate-fest about DS9 vs B5).
Oodles of Star Trek DVD news
TV Shows on
DVD has scored a large amount of Star
Trek DVD news, for the original series (now in
full season sets), Enterprise, and even the
animated series! Finally, I’ll be able to see “The
Soft Weapon!”
And the new Enterprise showrunner is…
This
Cinescape article has all the info. Braga is
taking a step back as showrunner (although both he
and Berman will still be involved) and allowing Manny
Coto, current writer and creator of Odyssey
5, to step up and take over as showrunner.
