I had hoped the much-publicized four-series crossover would feel more like a four-part movie but, if Supergirl‘s installment is any indication, it won’t. “Medusa” is a mostly self-contained episode with two epilogues. In the second one, Barry “The Flash” Allen and Cisco “Vibe” Ramon show up seeking help with unspecified problems.

On The Flash, Alchemy plots something diabolical, Wally wants to become Kid Flash, Caitlin reveals her powers, a new metahuman casts shade, and the new Harrison continues to irritate. And why is Barry’s new labmate not around? Could he be….?

Supergirl: “Survivors”
The Maid of Might uncovers an alien Fight Club, and we learn something about Miss Martian that won’t be too surprising to comic-book fans, but which may mean something different in the DC TV-verse.
The Flash: “Monster”
Cisco has suspicions about the new Harrison, as the Flash meddles with a mystery that wouldn’t be out of place on Scooby-doo (though the monster itself has a sort of “Alien meets Cloverfield” design). Caitlin gives her mother’s advice the cold shoulder.
Arrow: “Targets”
Church, shockingly, learns the Arrow’s identity, and Ollie must take desperate actions.
Legends of Tomorrow: “Abominations”
The Legends battle zombies during the Civil War. Does anyone else feel like the episodes this year have premises generated by a game of Mad Libs?
Supergirl guards the endangered American President (Lynda Carter), Mon-El (Chris Wood) awakens, and Renee Montoya Maggie Smith (Floriana Lima) joins forces with Alex Danvers. We learn that this Earth is very familiar with aliens, M’gann M’orzz (Sharon Leal) reveals herself to fellow Martian J’onn J’onzz, and Snapper Carr (Ian Gomez) continues to have no appreciable connection to his comic-book namesake.
The Flash and Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) join forces with an old Rogue (Wentworth Miller) against a couple of new Rogues, Mirror Master (Gray Damon) and Top (Ashley Rickards). Meanwhile, the team interview for a new Harrison Wells and Caitlin Snow lives up to her name.

Up, up, and away!
Like many, I felt disappointment with Batman v Superman, and described it as this generation’s Phantom Menace. I thought they had the right Wonder Woman, however.
Based on these trailers from San Diego, we have hope for DC’s next steps in their cinematic universe. They have confirmed (no surprise) that a certain man with a big red “S” on his chest will return.

In the penultimate episode of Season One, Supergirl faces world-conquering aliens and mindless humans– and Superman himself is in thrall, because the writers say so.
