Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 April 4

No foolin’, it’s April already.  Easter and Bunny Day for those who celebrate those.  Seems like a short week for television, with even less descriptions.  Invincible was added to the list, but without any description, it feels like it wasn’t worth the effort.  At least it’s in good company with the Falcon, Winter Soldier, Pennyworth, and My Hero Academia.  Zoey, at least, tells us it’s her birthday, and our Dueling Compatriots of The Flash and Supergirl tell us that Cisco and Chester return to the 90 to do their Ground Hog Day episode, and Supergirl gives us vague descriptions of their typical show.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 March 28

At first, I was surprised to see so many new titles, but I think we actually end up with a Decreased Count.  Superman takes the week off to give room for his cousin Supergirl to start her sixth season.  Batwoman admitted that Kate is gone, and starts picking up the pieces.  Pennyworth doesn’t give us a description, but the impending execution implied by the title makes it forgivable, and the Flash faces fears fostered by his foe.  Zoey and her Extraordinary Playlist return, exploring her memory.  The Good Doctor has Claire getting a visit from her deadbeat dad.  On Riverdale, Archie is visited by his former Army general.  The Falcon and the Winter Soldier doesn’t offer us a description either, but if the implications from last week’s episode are to be believed, we will pay a visit to an MCU antagonist.  Red works against his Task Force when they go for one of his contacts.

Superman & Lois Review: “The Perks of Not Being a Wallflower,” “Haywire,” “The Best of Smallville”

We have here review and discussion of the most recent three episodes of the series. Life in Smallville fails to settle, while global challenges continue to daunt the Man of Steel.

The show goes on hiatus for about a month, rerunning the early episodes before returning to newer ones in (it appears) early May.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 March 21

As the first week past the Vernal Equinox, spring is here!  The season finale of American Gods lands this week as we can see if Wednesdays preparations were enough.  Batwoman gets a chance to see much of a batwoman she really is.  Pennyworth and Black Lightning don’t get use a description, but the titles suggest Pennyworth has a drink, and Black Lightning appears to indicate a returning character.  The Flash has the episode that would have been the season premier if it hadn’t been delayed.  Superman & Lois promise us the best of the ten seasons of the previous Superman show (and I am all for that.)  Other comic book inspired television gives us Riverdale’s kids staff now coping has a dark and grim defeats.  The Falcon and The Winter Soldier appears to be following WandaVisions path and not giving us a description or even an episode title before the show drops.  The Good Doctor also attempts to take on another very difficult topic as Shaun and Lea decides how to handle an unplanned life change.  The Blacklist appears to go geocaching, which will be great to get everyone in the mood to go hike now that spring has arrived.  While I tend to skip the animated shows in this write up, if you have an eight and twelve year old set of little girls at home who likes non-English based superhero animation, you’ll be happy to hear that Miraculous season four will premier this week, too.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 π Day

With math on the mind, the Dividend Calculators at the CW are managing to get their shows out despite obvious cautionary changes to the productions.  While Batwoman debates the merits of not winnowing down the cast further, Pennyworth doesn’t mind bringing his together.  Black Lightning swaps actresses, but potentially scares away some cast, The Flash brings back Ralph’s would-be-wife, but leave the cancelled cast member off the story, Superman and Lois decide they can be safer by just going outside and take in some highschool football while they are there, and the “kids” of Riverdale all stop to wonder just what it is they are actually doing.  If you still think you need precautions, you can always say a prayer to the American Gods, but don’t expect a response; they are pretty busy solidifying their alliances for the war.  Did you enjoy your week off last week without WandaVision?  Well, I hope you got your rest in, because this Friday they next MCU television series launches as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier start their buddy story.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 March 7

As we March quickly through this year, Don’t Cool down just yet!  Pennyworth returns to the screen, trying to make it to America, Black Lightning goes on a secret mission to ruin, Flash starts thinking, and Superman starts telling some of his kids about his past.  The American Gods fail their omniscience again with all the characters finding surprises this week.  The Good Doctor goes crazy treating a cancerous comatose case.  Riverdale gets a fire department.  In The Blacklist, Red investigates torturers.

After Morgan Edge censors her work, Lois Lane quits The Daily Planet.

The battle-armored Stranger is, indeed, Lex Luthor, but a version from another universe. He claims that a Kal-El destroyed his earth, and that Superman is a threat to the CWDCTVU’s version of our planet.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 February 28

More of the comic shows are returning, Despite Corona, even if in typical Flash timing, he’s late.  His season premier is really the conclusion to last season.  Batwoman gives us an episode wish to earn the adjective “late”, and Superman & Lois take up residence back in Clark’s small villa.  Black Lightning faces his big bad to say to leave him alone, because that always works out as expected.  American Gods get a lot of surprises for beings claiming omniscience.  WandaVision gives us a finale for a series that seemed easily dismissed at first, but has gained popularity enough that you have to stay offline on Fridays until you see the episode if you want to avoid spoilers.  The Blacklist brings back Elizabeth, at lease according to the “next week on” segment.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2021 February 21

There’s a new arrival as Superman and Lois launches their Pilot this week, though there is no sign of his cousin’s show returning.  Elsewhere, Delayed by COVID, Batwoman views some disgusting art and Black Lightning’s wife makes a breakthrough.  Meanwhile, in the MCU, we can see what the newly revealed theme song can give us on WandaVision.  Before we’re out of the comics, be sure we check in with the American Gods as Shadow and his estranged wife explore small town life, and Gizmoduck appears on DuckTales.  Now that we are out of the comic section, Riverdale turns the “kids” to teachers so they don’t need to build new sets.  The Good Doctor deals with ransomware, which I expect will give the IT guys like me watching the show the same reaction a real-world doctor does when watching surgery scenes.  On The Blacklist, some job opportunities present themselves.
