Sci-Fi Was King this Weekend

Sci-fi films took the top three spots in box office sales at that movies this weekend. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 in first, Big Hero 6 in second, and Interstellar in third.

Mockingjay, Part 1 also takes the title of best opening weekend for 2014. Transformers: Age of Extinction previously had that distinction.

So what do you think of the current box office king. Did the third Hunger Games improve upon the gains made by the second film?

The Avengers – Assembled

The posters have been trickling out of Comic-Con all last week, but now we get to see the final product and the final team make-up.

And with Joss Whedon directing? Be still my geeky, under-exercised heart.

Dwayne McDuffie is dead

Newsarama is reporting that Dwayne McDuffie, founder of Milestone Comics, and who worked on the Static Shock, and Justice League animated series, as well as the films “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths” and the newly released “All-Star Superman” has passed away. Currently the cause of death has not been released. Reportedly he was in good health earlier in the week, and had been scheduled to do a signing at Golden Apple comics tomorrow evening. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

San Diego Comic Con 2010 Journal

Yes, I realize that SDCC 2010 was last week. However, I kind of had a lot of stuff to do when I got home after the convention (I’ve only really finished unpacking just now), so now it’s time to get my notes together and let you know what happened during the con, based on my journal entries from the trip.
