Enterprise and Buffy return to St. Louis

Okay, so only about three readers will care about this,
but I’m one of those three. :-)

WHSL, channel 46, will be carrying Buffy The Vampire
Slayer
and Enterprise from now ’til April,
in the not-so-hot Friday night timeslot. (Hey, it’s better than the “musical chairs” timeslot they had last year.) Read
this article
for the long and sordid story of how they ended up on the Home Shopping Network.

Keanu Reeves as Superman?

PerlStalker writes, Fox
News
is reporting that Keanu Reeves is the
leading candidate for Man of Steal in Warner’s
Superman: Lost Son of Krypton. I have never
been impressed with Reeves’ acting, so I can’t say I
like this.
If this pans out, then Keanu will be forced to choose between aggrivating almost all existing Superman fans, or turning in a performance that’s entirely unlike any work I’ve seen him do so far.

Farscape Fans Fighting Back

Apparently fans of the sci-fi series aren’t going to take its cancellation lying down. SciFi.com has this article detailing their efforts, including a protest scheduled for today. Fight the good fight my friends!

P.S. Kudos to SciFi Channel for running the article even when it doesn’t jive with their own corporate decisions.

Update (9/12/02 @ 5:58pm EDT): Help save Farscape by using the images from here and link them to http://www.savefarscape.com

BattleBots Axed

Comedy Central appears to have cancelled (or at least put on hold) the popular robot-smashing show.

No word on if a similar show will replace it or if some other network will pick it up.

How about Sci-Fi Channel? They should have some extra budget now that Farscape’s been let go.

Star Trek Nemesis Footage

UPN will be airing some footage of the tenth
Star Trek feature during the Enterprise season premiere on September
18th. I didn’t need another reason to watch, but who am I to look a gift horse
in the mouth. My guess is that the footage will be online (legal or not) the
following day.

Beltran Talks Trek

From the “Bitting-the-Hand-that-Fed-You” dept, Robert Beltran (Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager) talks honestly about the late show and his costars.

Any of you old time readers will know my views on him from my reviews. Personally I don’t think he was a good choice from the beginning and he only has himself to blame for getting himself written out of the show.

For those of you new to this story, the short version is that Beltran made numerous nasty remarks in the press about his costars (particullary Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan) and the writers. From that point on, each script featured less and less of him on screen. In fact, in the last season, you can watch nearly every episode and count his lines on one hand. And most of those amount to “We’re venting plasma” or “The shields are down.”

9/11 and Sci-Fi

Well, it’s been 364 days. We’ve all had time to take a moment and examine things, priorities, and life in general. How have the events in the last year made you rethink Science Fiction? Trivial silliness or hope for a grand tomorrow? And what changes (if any) have you seen in SciFi over the last year?
