Novel Review: Life of Pi
Yann Martel’s award-winning novel, metafictional and metaphysical, does not fit the conventional definition of fantasy. As a sea yarn, however, it shares company with the traveler’s tales of yore and includes at least one encounter with the literal fantastic.
Why I Don’t Watch Sci-Fi on Fox
Real Life is always an excellent geek comic, but yesterday Greg really hit it on the head.
Weekly Comics Discussion – February 27, 2008
The complete list is here. Also, some words about the Secret Invasion coverage: I still need to catch up on past reviews, but won’t be able to do as many background reviews as I’d hoped, do to a suddenly hospitalized coworker. Weekend Review: Planet of the Dinosaurs
This 1978 production, made in the wake of Star Wars‘ success, hasn’t much to do with our recent post-Cloverfield reviews of Kaiju, but it does feature some nifty dinosaurs and the second-ever appearance of the rhedosaurus, the monster which arguably inspired a genre.
How the MST3K gang missed this one I do not know.
Supernatural Discussion – “Jus In Bello”
I was going to apologize for the late “Smallville” review, but it turns out tonight is a “Supernatural” double header instead of the usual “Smallville” lead in. I’m betting that’s actually going to be a more enjoyable night.
