An Anonymous Coward sent us this
URL with an article about William Shatner’s
proposal for a new Trek TV series. It seems like it
has more to do with books he’s writing than a TV
series at this point, but he’s put the offer out
there.
Weekly Comics Discussion – Wednesday, November 9, 2005
This week’s shipping
list has only one item I’ll be taking home, namely
Pulse #12. (Incidentally, Brian Michael
Bendis has announced that issue #14 will be his last
on the title. No word on who will replace him, or
even if the series will continue.) Other noteworthy
items include 100 Bullets #66, the first
issue of a Danger Girl miniseries, DMZ
#1, Infinite Crisis #2, JMS’ Book of
Lost Souls #2, Captiain Universe
Daredevil, Decimation: House of M: The Day
After, Drax the Destroyer #3 (a series
which is getting great reviews but less than
spectacular sales), Exiles #72, the
Fantastic Four Wedding Special, Friendly
Neighbourhood Spider-Man #2 (continuing “The
Other”), and New Excalibur #1.
Review– Star Trek: The Original Series Season 1
If you find the recently released Ultimate Star Trek Collection to be a little out of your price range (or your geek completist range) but you still want some series Trek in your collection, consider Season One of the Original. It suffers from a low budget and stylized acting, but it set the groundwork for most tv SF that followed, and it remains the most inspired season of any Star Trek.
Supernatural Discussion – “Bugs”
Kim Manners, the most prolific director of The
X-Files, directs tonight’s episode. Right now,
this is the only new genre show I’m aware of on
Tuesday nights, but Threshold will be moving
to Tuesdays with its next new episode on November 22.
Surface Discussion – “107”
The seventh episode of the series aired last night.
How was it?
“Chicken Little” not so “Little”
The Ultimate Star Trek Colletion
For those wishing to do my Christmas shopping early can get this 212 Disc Monstrosity. Sure it’s $2,499.00 USD, but hey, this is EVERYTHING Star Trek (minus the Animated Series, but we don’t really miss that, do we?).
Thomas Hayden Church as Flint Marko
The Sony
Official Site for Spider-Man 3 has a
picture up of Thomas Hayden Church as “Flint Marko.”
If you don’t recognize that character’s name, click
the link. If you’ve seen the character in the comics,
you’ll know exactly who it is.
Novel review: Virtual Light
William Gibson kicked off his Bridge Trilogy with this 1993 book, set in the future year of… 2005!
Grave of Copernicus
If you missed this last week:
the grave of Copernicus, the 16-century astronomer who advanced the notion that the earth revolves around the sun, has likely been located.
