The DVD list is starting to taper off some, as many
people will have already started their Christmas
shopping. I’ve pre-written these columns for the rest

Peter Jackson has approached the “Hellboy” director to helm “Halo.” I don’t really care, as long as they keep Uwe Boll away from another video game movie. Or any movie for that matter.
Originally titled Eva, la Venere selvaggia, and also released in English as Eve the Wild Woman and Kong Island, this disastrous 1968 jungle pic will receive a new DVD rerelease later this month, to cash in on the hype surrounding Jackson’s remake of King Kong.

The three-part miniseries concluded last night on Sci-Fi Channel. I taped it and plan on a marathon viewing this weekend. What did you all think?
We’re holding a King Kong Kountdown to the December 14 release of Peter Jackson’s epic remake. Today we review the original Mighty Joe Young, which involved several of the people responsible for the original King Kong. It’s not surprising, then, that this 1949 film should resemble its famous predecessor. However, the writers, director, and producers did not simply ape their memorable tale. Joe proves a more touching and thoughtful giant ape than Kong. The story, while less exciting than Kong‘s, holds up despite its period hokiness. Indeed, Walt Disney remade the film in 1998; this gorilla suits a family audience.
