The review of Orphen: Scion of Sorcery that was requested by arashiken way back in August has finally been completed. It took buying Final Fantasy Origins to encourage me to get it done, but I did. (Expect a review of the original Final Fantasy by the end of the year.)

Game Review – “Final Fantasy VII”
Warning: I’ve tried to keep this review spoiler-free, but those who do not wish to be exposed to information revealed on the first game disk would probably not want to read the review.

Game Review – “Kingdom Hearts”
Disney games have a habit of leaving me extremely bored. Final
Fantasy games tend to grab on and hold me through to the
inevitable end. Care to guess which side this game came out
on?
Computer RPG Cliches
I don’t even play console RPGs, and I found this funny. One of my nephews sent me the link to this list of RPG cliches.
Sony PSP vs. Nintendo Game Boy Advance
quecojones writes, Sony has anounced a new handheld called the PSP. Nintendo says no big deal.
I know I’ll probably get one as soon as they are available, but what about you guys? I’m interested, but I think I’ll need some of those magical coloured papers people refer to as “money” before I can pick one up.
Talisman Board Game Rereleased
Those that know what game I’m referring to just wet themselves. For the rest of you, go here to find out more. It’s basically a beer and pizza version of D&D. No roleplaying, just hack-and-slash fun that can be completed in one night’s gaming. It’s a ton of fun, but Games Workshop discontinued production of the game in the mid-90s.
Sets of the old game can be found on eBay at prices in the hundreds of dollars. I just spotted retailers selling the new release of the game.
You can preorder at any one of the following:
If you’re even remotely serious, order now. This is a limited run. Most of the stores I checked have less than ten sets apiece.
Want to beta test Final Fantasy XI?
Square wants you! If you don’t believe me, check out this Cinescape article about the Squaresoft search for PC and PS2 beta testers for FFXI.
Stargate SG-1 Role-Playing Game
Alderac games has scored the license from MGM. Here’s the press release. It will be based on their Spycraft D20 engine.
Sounds like fun.
Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick
quecojones writes, Sci Fi Wire has a story about Bruce Campbell (Ash) and the new game. Anybody else planning on getting this? It’s about time we got something new in the ED universe (IMNHO). I just picked up DefJam: Vendetta so I at least have something to keep me busy until this and Enter the Matrix is released.
Remake wishlist?
quecojones writes, Sort of off-topic, but what the hell…
We are going to get FFI and FFII remakes for the PlayStation and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy, but what I want to know is:
Now that Square & Enix are hooking up, is there any hope of them doing the same for the original NES DragonWarrior (DragonQuest in Japan)? So far, I’ve had to resort to ConsoleClassix for my DW fix.
How about the original Ninja Gaiden series?
I’m sure there are many old-school clasics out there that many gamers would love to play on their “next generation” consoles. What would make it onto your wishlist? My picks would be FF3, the Mana games, and the Dragon Warrior games.
