Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2020 July 12

The summer slump stretches on, but we aren’t quite out of Debutantes and Conspirators yet, as Stargirl fights the Injustice Society of America’s NextGen, and the Doom Patrol takes up space.  Then, for more comic book action, the Agents focus on Yo-Yo’s past as they yo-yo through time.  Maybe they’ll hit the 1930s and see Perry Mason fight with his team while Sister Orphan Black claims she can resurrect a baby.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2020 July 5

Well, while we are waiting out this surge of new pandemic cases, the television options Dwindle Continually.  We get the second half of Stargirl’s fight against the popular girl and the Doom Patrol gives us the finger.  (You caught the first three episode’s review, right?)  Blindspot gives us a double header to finish their season.  We also get two more episodes of Robot Chicken to watch some adults inappropriately play with their toys.  While your regressing through time, two of the Agents of SHIELD get trapped in the eighties with no sign of a phone booth.  Further back in the past, be sure to stop by the late thirties to visit Perry Mason as he breaks more laws to win their court case.  If that isn’t enough historically inspired fiction for you, head all the way back to the late 18th century and don’t throw away your shot.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2020 June 28

The summer shows continue, leaving it questionable how long we will have new content before the studios Corona-related shut-downs leave us begging for anything that isn’t a re-run.  Luckily, this is an age where almost the full total of classic sci-fi is available to catch up on while waiting this out.  In non-genre shows, Perry Mason has returned to the television screens, in a very HBO, not-family-friendly prequel to the first television legal drama.  In his second episode, we get finally get some of Orphan Black’s Tatiana.  This is set in the 1930s, which makes it easy to confuse it for Penny Dreadful’s City of Angels, but luckily that is wrapping up its season with some racially motivated riots.  If you were hoping for some Delightfully Colorful heroism, Stargirl has you covered as the new Justice Society learns to work as a team, and the Doom Patrol has sex.  Across the aisle to the other comic behemoth, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. race against clock in a 70s spy drama.  The rogue FBI team discover they have a mole on Blindspot.  If you are just looking for some toy-based adult humor, Robot Chicken has two new episodes for you, as well.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2020 June 21

We have a few new options this week, as The Twilight Zone drops season two, and Doom Patrol returns for its second season as well.  Stargirl brings together the entire Justice Society for a Doom/Celestial two punch, but an animated Spider-Man gives us a Venom story to go with the SHIELD Agents’ action in the seventies so we actually have an equal amount of series from the Big Two.  Penny Dreadful spends a night out on the town in LA, while David and Michael finish their homework in Staged.  If you can’t see enjoying any of that, Blindspot has two planefuls of memory eraser to help.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 2019 May 19

The TV is a lot lighter this week as “Summer” is starting, though I am not sure that traditional seasons are as much of a thing as they once were.  None the less, we are allegedly seeing the Season Finales of Game of Thrones, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Doom Patrol.  Elementary returns and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has just started back up, too.  To flesh things out, Good Omens and Swamp Thing are starting next week (May 31st.)  To flesh things out, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and The Twilight Zone continue on, and if you’ve been busy, Lucifer season 4 is still sitting out there in the Netflix queue.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 12 May 2019

We have a few of our big name titles reaching the end of their seasons, such as Flash, Arrow, and Riverdale, with others getting to their penultimate adventure, such as Supergirl, Game of Thrones, and Doom Patrol.  I’d ask what we think we would put on in the breakroom once they wrap up, but I suspect we all have plenty of backlog to catch up on.  Which seasonal climax are you most looking forward to?

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 5 May 2019

Busy week, sorry the schedule is going up late!  We are getting to the point where there’s almost too much to list, but with the Arrowverse on DC’s CW winding down we have Marvel stepping up with the return of S.H.E.I.L.D., and Lucifer drops all of Season 4, Netflix style!  Also, if you like Disney’s animated offerings, DuckTales and Big Hero 6 also seem to be coming out once a day.  Am I missing anything you guys are watching?

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 28 April 2019

In our breakroom this week, if we are aren’t to busy discussing the big game, we can watch the war escalated for the American Gods, or watch it actually happen in Game of Thrones.  The seasons are winding down for the CW shows, as Supergirl remains hunted, Arrow pretends to be a true crime story, the Legends are all about couples, Nora goes rogue on The Flash, and Cyborg gets to Doom Patrol for ants.  In Riverdale, we get some adults’ idea of what a high school prom looks like.  Cloak and Dagger gets deep into sex trafficking.

Bureau’s Breakroom’s Television Table – Week beginning 21 April 2019

Another busy week as we rush headlong into the ending of the regular broadcast seasons.  The American Gods give us some Mad Sweeney backstory.  We get a calm evening at Winterfell on Game of Thrones.  In the Decidedly Comprehensive corner, Supergirl reads Dostoevsky’s first great novel, Arrow focuses on Diggle, the Legends send unsolicited emojis, the Flash brings back their winter villains, and Doom Patrol lets Cyborg perform an upgrade.  In Riverdale, the Easter themed little sister is still missing, and on Cloak and Dagger, Tyrone rolls up a new character sheet.  Orville has to deal with the fallout from last week’s temporal shenanigans.  For fans of slightly less genre specific shows, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is scheduled to make a return, and Cobra Kai kicks off season 2 this week, also!
