This weekend saw the latest Philip K. Dick adaptation to reach the big screen, starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. How did it turn out?
Movie Discussion – Rango
No one here at the Bureau got a chance to watch it this weekend, but the Box Office tally says more than a few people did. I have to admit, the previews looked interesting and I personally plan on taking the kids at some point, just didn’t make it this weekend.
How about you all, anyone have a chance to see Johnny Depp in all his animated glory?

Movie Review – Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis
This week I have a review of the live-action film that inspired Doomed Megalopolis, which I reviewed earlier – Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis, featuring creature design by H.R. Giger. Continue reading →
Blade Runner: The Franchise
Ridley Scott’s classic 1982 film Blade Runner will receive, apparently, prequels and sequels in the near future.
I like the film, but I have a strong suspicion I’ll hate the franchise.
Anyone else?
Updates coming to several of our links
Due to circumstances at work, I’ve been behind in a few of our links and updates. By the end of this weekend, three areas that are behind will be updated. First of all, the “Blaine’s Video Collection” link in the lower right will transform into “Blaine’s Collections,” and detail my movie, comic and book collections as hosted by Collectorz.com connect. Second, the needed edits to the second lesson of “Math From Scratch” will be implemented and uploaded. Finally, the “Bureau 42 Event Calendar” will be updated for all shows we usually cover. (We’re open to suggestions on that front, too.)
Math From Scratch 0004: The Group Axioms
This lesson defines “algebra” and starts to deal with a particular type of algebra. Lesson four: The Group Axioms is available here.
“A Dance With Dragons” Release Date Set
Yes, we’ve been teased and disappointed a lot over the last few years. But with “Game of Thrones” coming to HBO this month, apparently the proverbial fire has been lit under George Martin’s hind quarters.
Bantam Books has set July 12, 2011 as the release date for the sixth book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. Martin maintains that the delay is due to him needing to fully map out the last two books in the series. Note, that “Dragons” is not yet finished, but will be in time for publication.
It’s been a long wait for fans, hopefully it pays off.

Firefly Returns….
The original Firefly returns to basic cable. The Science Channel will be rerunning the original series in HD starting March 6, with the addition of some science-based commentary.
As for Nathan Fillion, he says he would gladly play Captain Mal again. (The second link will take you to an interview).
