The Star Wars Kid

If you’re one of the people who hasn’t heard the saga of the Star Wars Kid, you can find a brief, well-written account (cough, cough) here. Elsewhere, there’s a petition to get the Kid a cameo in Episode III.

So, oh Bureau-ites…. What is the most bizarre part of this entire situation?

Heloooooo it’s me again

Did ya hear the one about the deaf guy and the gay guy?

Update: Someone in my office posted this. This is what I get for leaving
myself logged in there. Remember, folks, there’s a “Log Out” link, which I’ll have to start paying more attention to.

In the meantime, I don’t know who was posing as me, but they’re gonna get dead. (In the meantime, I’m leaving this story up for hysterical porpoises.)

Since we’re all so brilliant….

What rules would you establish for your ideal SF or fantasy tv series? Sarcasm aside– fans occassionally suggest better ideas than the creators and producers of various shows.

I’ve listed five. They reflect my own personal ideas. I suspect a good many people here would enjoy voicing theirs.

ONE CAVEAT: Avoid just saying, “X was, like, the best show ever, so I’d make my show just like X!” Be more creative than that. Derive a rule from whatever element made X worth watching.

Are you a nerd? If not, what kind of freak are you?

Timeshredder writes, Ok… I realize suggesting everyone come on over to my site is lame, but I just posted a couple of potentially amusing “quizzes” that might be of interest to Bureau42. The quizzes are original, even if the idea is not.

I’m also open to suggestions for changes. See:

(Backstory: I was at my niece’s gymnastics meet. I was used to my other niece’s meets; she was an elite gymnist until last year. Do you know how much time there is to kill between turns when the level of performance is little-kid level???? Anyway, I had recently “failed” someone’s online “Geeks” test, and this got me thinking). I was amused. I scored 27 on the geek test, but my “to do” list will bump me up close to 40. The “what kind of freak are you?” test has a broken link to the scoring page, but I received 4 A’s, 10 B’s, and a C.

Reader Research Request

Know of any cool Sci-Fi multimedia out on the web? I’m putting together an article/list for any and all Sci-Fi multimedia on the web. Basically it’ll be a broadband user’s guide to Sci-Fi on the ‘Net. Anything goes, video, audio, flash, etc.

Please don’t reply to this post, just email me so I can compile the list into a nice format and then post it. If everyone sends 2-3 links we’ll have a massive guide, so scour those bookmarks.

Thanks!!!

I don’t know if this guy is serious– he seems to be– but he has an entire website dedicated to the belief that “Planet X” is about to pass close by, causing untold problems.

This leads to a possible question for the assembled:

Which old SF flick would you like to live through? Why? How would we cope?

My General Relativity prof once told me that the best thing about researching G.R. is that the math scares away the crackpots.
