ComingSoon.net has reported that JJ Abrams as yet untitled sequel to Star Trek (which I’m going to call Star Trek XII for now, to avoid confusion), has gotten a release date for Fourth of July Weekend, 2012.

Lawsuit on the Edge of Forever
Last week, Harlan Ellison sued Paramount for long-lost royalties related to “City on the Edge of Forever,” which many fans say was the best episode of the original Star Trek. Claiming lost royalties for things like “Guardian of Forever” Hallmark ornaments, Ellison also named the Writer’s Guild in the suit for failing to do their part in helping him get his due.

Star Trek Movie Blu-Rays to release in April, May
TrekMovie.com is reporting that we will finally get a Blu-Ray release of the first 6 Trek movies, as well as the high-def version of the first season of the original series in May and April of this year. Majel Barrett passes to Final Frontier
Majel Barrett, wife of the late Gene Roddenberry and the only person to be a part of every incarnation of Star Trek to the present, has died. She was 76.
