George Lucas may be retiring from the movie business, but someone– several someones, in fact– have finally completed Star Wars Uncut: the Director’s Cut. There are fan films, and there’s this Frankensteinian compilation:

Star Wars Blu-Ray Features Further Tinkering
Greedo still shoots first in Blu-Ray, but the forthcoming releases will feature quite a few other changes.
Star Wars Examined– in Glorious Detail!
Red Letter media gave us feature-length rants explaining why the Star Wars prequels failed. Now, “Jambe Davdar” has collected hundreds of hours of archival footage, interviews, and outtakes and created incredible, feature-length documentaries showing how the originals were made and why so many things succeeded.
These take time, but they really prove worthwhile. I wish Lucas had watched something like these before he made his journey to the Dark Side….
Star Wars on Blu-Ray in September
It’s official – September of this year will see the release of all of the Star Wars movies on Blu-Ray. Original trilogy and prequels. There’s even an offical trailer, below the cut, courtesy of ComicVine. Continue reading →
Family Guy: “It’s a Trap!” Trailer
It’s the final movie in the trilogy and, of course, with the success of Family Guy’s first two spoofs, this one was only a matter of time.
Comic Review – Star Wars Omnibus: Tales of the Jedi, Vol. 1
Kevin J. Anderson used to be considered to have written the worst works of fiction in the Star Wars prior to the release of the prequels. After the prequels the spot is held by either Karen “Jedi are Scum” Traviss or by George Lucas himself, depending on who you ask.
It wasn’t always this way. The Tales of the Jedi series, which came out contemporaneously with Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire series, and the end of the EU drought. But, were these actually good, or was their reception the “OMG New Star Wars !!!!111!1!” talking? Continue reading →
Comic Review – Star Wars Omnibus: X-Wing Rogue Squadron Vol. 1
So, with that long-winded title, we come to what is, to my knowledge, the first Star Wars comic review at Bureau42. If I’m wrong, I apologize. This review is of the first omnibus volume from Dark Horse comics of their X-Wing: Rogue Squadron series. Continue reading →
Return of the Jedi: Still No Profits?
According to David Prowse, he’s yet to receive a residual check from the third (or sixth) Star Wars movie. For those not “into Hollywood,” this is a pretty common practice for accountants to massage the numbers so movies never make a profit on paper, even though people like George Lucas make enough money that they could buy up a small continent.
David recently won critical acclaim playing yours truly despite his battle with prostate cancer.
Aaron Alliston in the hospital for surgery.
In addition to game designer Dave Arneson being in the hospital due to his cancer worsening, the official Star Wars blog is reporting Aaron Alliston is in the hospital as well, undergoing a quadrupal bypass surgery. If you want to help, there are two ways you can do it:
- Alliston’s family has started a blood donation sponsorship – if you are in the Dallas area you can go to Carter BloodCare center, or the National Blood Exchange, and say you’d like to donate blood for Aaron Alliston, a Carter BloodCare patient, and give his sponsor number – SPON 047786.
- You can send cards (but not perishable items or flowers) to

I’d like to wish Aaron a speedy recovery, and in general I hope he gets well soon.
“Star Wars” trilogy according to someone who hasn’t seen it
It’s long been a pet peeve of mine to hear someone’s review of a movie or TV show, only to find out they’ve never actually seen it. Well, here’s a hilarious example: not a review, but a summary of the original “Star Wars” trilogy by someone who has never watched them.
