And this wraps up the pair of superhero reviews in
this week’s double feature. Next week, Timeshredder
will regale us with tales of The Naked Lunch
and Liquid Sky.

Century City Review – “The Haunting”
The second last Century City review is now
up. Sorry for not posting it Thursday, but my home
Internet access has been extremely erratic lately, and
this is the first time I’ve been online in a couple of
weeks. I’ve got four other articles to post today,
too: wish me luck. (X-Men and Blade
double feature reviews, weekly DVD picks, and monthly
comic picks.)
V For Vendetta Delayed Until March 2006
chad
writes, The release date of V for Vendetta
has been pushed
back to March 17, 2006 from Nov. 4th. The official
cause is to accomodate the post-production schedule.
Those familiar with VfV will understand why Nov. 4th
was a special date.
Notice how the article describes V for Vendetta
as a graphic novel? This irks me because it was
originally released as a comic book mini-series and
was only later reprinted in graphic novel form. With
the release of VfV looming, I’ve seen several
discussions about the superiority of the graphic
novel, yet all of the ones I own were first published
as individual comics. Does anyone else see a problem
here? I know at least one of our authors has a
copy that can be reviewed in time for the movie.
Weekly Comics Discussion – August 17, 2005
This week’s shipping list includes some interesting titles, such as Green Lantern #3 (which wraps up the story with the latest model of Manhunter), Daredevil Vol. 4 hardcover, Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #1 (which promises to introduce a new love interest), and Ultimate X-Men #62.
Summer Double Feature Part II: “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”
As you can probably tell, today’s double feature has a running theme of “medicine going too far.”

Summer Double Feature Part I: “Gattaca”
Andrew Niccol’s work as writer/director has usually impressed me, with this, The Truman Show (as writer only) and Simone (as both of the roles.)

2005 Hugo Nominees
I haven’t had time to do reviews of the nominated novels this year, though I reviewed Iron Council back in September, and I’m hoping to review Charles Stross’s Iron Dawn before the end of August. Meanwhile, you can find the entire list of nominees here and the winners, posted at the link below.
In addition, my thoughts on the nominated short stories follow, along with links to each.
